The Academy of Martial Arts presents

A BaGua Zhang Seminar

APRIL 27th: Starting at Noon.

At The Academy of Martial Arts: 1570 Soquel Dr. Santa Cruz, California 95075 (831)475-1429

Bagua Zhang or The Eight Trigrams Palm is one of the most exotic of Chinese Martial Arts. Based on the Chinese book of wisdom, the I Ching, this sophisticated art blends health principles with self defense; energy flow with artistic movement. Particularly well constructed for 21st century lifestyles, the art of Bagua Zhang is modular and circular. It can be practiced in a small space and does not require a long commitment of time before you have learned enough to explore deeply. It is an "information rich" style with sophisticated content based on initially simple movements. People who study Bagua are often amazed at how rapidly it "gets under their skin" and they find themselves enthusiastically practicing and feeling the joy of these beautiful, ancient and complex actions.

NOTE: This seminar is already full and we are not taking any other students. Keep visiting this site for announcements of upcoming events.

~Chi Kung International presents~

TUINA Seminar
with Sifu Jason Tsou

Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Cal State University Los Angeles

Tuina literally means gliding, kneading and grabbing. This is a narrow definition that distorts the basic principle of Tuina. A broader and more useful definition that highlights this Tuina principle is therapy by using the hands. This definition covers all of the categories and techniques that are applied while using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment theories. Sifu Tsou will show how these techniques can be tailored to the needs and practice of the martial artist.

Topics will include using Tuina for competitive events, martial arts training, maintaining good health, and preserving a high level of efficiency despite fatigue. Both tournament and non-tournament situations will be addressed.

Sifu Jason Tsou will conduct a two-day workshop on Tuina and focus on:

Theories in Tuina: As applied to correcting an abnormal anatomical position, regulating internal energy, adjusting message (signal) in the system.
Tuina Techniques: Therapeutic hand manipulation & healing Chi Kung
Hands-on Practice for Martial Artist: In the areas of handling Injury, preparing for
competitive events, and effectively maintaining oneself for routine training.

Try an Introductory Class: Tai Chi or Kung Fu
The beginning or even intermediate student may be somewhat surprised when he or she enters our school. Ours is a little more traditional than most. For instance we don't have "open observation" without permission of the instructor on the floor. At present we don't teach children. We are looking for that minority, maybe twenty per cent of those who contact us, who might like a long term study of a deep, traditional and ancient art. To allow those really interested in Kung Fu and other Chinese martial studies get some idea of our training style we allow people to attend a class of Kung Fu or Tai Chi for FREE. Just call up the school, leave your name and number, and we'll get back to you and set up your FREE class.

Check our schedule to see about times for Tai Chi or Kung Fu.

Joining a Traditional School
If you find yourself interested in studying we have a graduated program called 1,3,12 where a student may start with ONE month of training, then THREE months and then sign up for a TWELVE month program allowing them more classes and more access time to the school and instruction for the same price.

Our classes are small and the time is generally spent with the head instructor himself. We concentrate on such refined and advanced information you may find yourself learning multiples faster than some schools. We are recognized in China and Taiwan as an authentic Kung Fu school, not a kick boxing or Kenpo style claiming to be Kung Fu.
