The FOUR FACES of MARTIAL ARTS

The Martial Arts is far more complex, beautiful, interesting and profound than most people think. The kind of instruction being taught to children nowadays, though sincere and positive in many ways, does not even begin to scratch the skin of the art. So what is the art itself? Well, after five thousand years of refinement it has many faces but, we feel, these are the main four...

WORKOUT:
Stretching and conditioning to cardio. Each workout has time for warmups, drilling, basics, self defense. NEVER boring There's so much variation and interplay. This is a "learning" workout where your mind as well as your body is engaged.
SELF DEFENSE:
No competitive or sports training. Just authentic self defense but taught carefully in a safe environment.
ART:
As beautiful as dance, as engaging as music: the art of the Martial ARTS is full and mature with exquisite means of expression, practice and creative fulfilment. In modern culture this is the least understood aspect of this great heritage. A thousand year heritage of beauty.
CHI KUNG (Qigong):
This covers a wide area of meaning. Health practices, transcendental approaches, Chinese medicine and meditative postures. Chi Kung is the "Yin" to the martial "Yang." It corrects postural problems, strengthens concentration and deepens breathing.
