About Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine:
Acupuncture is the insertion of extremely fine, pre-sterilized,
disposable needles into specific points on the body as mapped by
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Each acupuncture point is selected
for a specific function with a predictable result. Points are selected
based on the pattern discrimination diagnosed. TCM is an effective
and comprehensive system of medicinal practice utilized and developed
for over 3,000 years. Qi (chee), or vital energy, flows throughout
the body along interconnected network pathways called channels.
It originates from the organ systems and provides the motive force
and delivery of nourishment and energy to all bodily tissues and
structures. When there is obstruction in a channel, the flow of
Qi becomes impeded and pain and illness result. Acupuncture is used
to restore homeostasis to the body by using itŐs own innate healing
abilities.
