A Martial Arts Newsletter from the Academy of Martial Arts & Wisdom Fist

Class Changes

As of February 1 the following Advanced classes are no longer active: Monday 5:30 pm and Tuesday 7:30 pm.

There is now an invitational class at 6:30 on Tuesdays which will be devoted to the art of Chin Nah locking and controlling joints. There is NO CHARGE to Academy students but this is by instructor invitation.

New Saturday Class
How do you know if you are practicing authentic Kung Fu? In honor of our forthcoming book and to give students some real insight into fighting Kung Fu, instructor Travis Rath, is teaching “The Three Magic Mirrors”: a series of exercises and fighting techniques developed by Ted Mancuso’s teacher, Adam Hsu. These special movements were developed over years of teaching and give you instant feedback on the kinks and snags you might have in execution. Saturday: 10:00, no charge.

Valentines’ Day
… just happens to be the arrival of the much awaited book “Lone Sword Against the Cold Cold Sky”, probably the best book of essays on Kung Fu in the English language. There will, of course, be a student discount… So reserve your copy today.

What’s YOUR experience?
The Stone Tablet is soliciting student experiences or thoughts on practice here at the Academy. What’s the easiest thing? The most fun? The most difficult? How has martial practice helped in your life? Thought like this are really appreciated and can help others. Please give any articles or just jotted ideas to Jean Andrews.
