Karl Forest demonstrating Single Whip

Single Whip

This 3-month series introduces the beautiful art of Tai Chi Chuan (Taijiquan).

We will begin with the proper structure and biomechanics that give this ancient martial art its well-deserved reputation as a health and longevity practice. We will teach you a Yang-style short set that Sifu Ted Mancuso specifically designed to follow authentic and traditional principles. It is also learnable within three months.

The class is oriented to beginners, but more experienced students who want to refresh their skills are welcome and encouraged to attend and practice, including those who have taken or completed any previous 3-month Tai Chi classes at our school.

We will focus on body structure (head up, back straight!), efficient and correct movement, relaxation (effortless movement), and some philosophical underpinnings of Tai Chi Chuan as we learn a progression of movements that make up a short-form, Yang-style set.

Small class size ensures individual attention.

Ted Mancuso and Karl Forest demonstrates Stork Cools Wings

Stork Cools Wings

Karl is an AMA instructor with 24+ years of experience. He has deep knowledge of the Yang style form of Tai Chi, communicates the art clearly to students, and facilitates the entire group while providing individualized attention, assisting each student in personal exploration within one’s limitations. We are all different and have our limitations of movement that we respect and expand upon as ready. He very much enjoys the martial applications at the heart of Taijiquan, although this is not a part of this introductory class.
