Tai Chi Push Hands

TCPH1

Tai Chi Chuan is much more than a slow-moving dance performed on a beach at sunset!

This classic martial art combines proper structure with qigong and other principles derived from Chinese medicine. This exquisite practice incorporates health, self-defense, performance and other ancient regimens.

Of the millions who study Tai Chi solely for health, most are unaware that its martial structure and inheritance are crucial to deriving full benefits from the practice. Sadly, even some teachers miss this link, and thereby teach an ’empty’ Tai Chi Chuan. This is NOT the way we teach it at the Academy!

This 2 hour afternoon of Push Hands is a perfect way to enhance your Tai Chi practice. Push Hands training offers enjoyable two-person exercises and loops that refine, among other things: body sensitivity and listening; correct posture and structure; applications; the motion behind the movements. Unlike tournament Push Hands, this class is oriented towards cooperation, NOT competition.

Taught by Ted Mancuso and Narrye Caldwell.

Ted is director of the Academy. For more than 40 years, he has been teaching, studying, writing about, exploring, and admiring Tai Chi Chuan. He is passionate about teaching others to experience Tai Chi.

Narrye has been practicing traditional Chinese medicine for over 25 years. She has also studied Tai Chi for more than 20 years, as well as taught it at Five Branches University as a crucial part of the curriculum, since Tai Chi and Chinese health practice are symbiotic.
